Giving a talk on a boat

About

I am currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. From 2019-2022 I was an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of Georgia.  I completed my PhD at Stanford in 2015; from 2015-2018 I was an NSF Postdoc at Columbia, and from 2018-2019 I was a member at the Institute for Advanced Study.

I’m supported by an NSERC Discovery Grant, a Sloan Research Fellowship, and an Ontario Early Researcher Award.

Broadly speaking, I am interested in the interplay between algebraic geometry and number theory (and, to a lesser extent, topology).  Most of my work has focused on using arithmetic techniques to study classical questions about, for example, complex algebraic varieties.  Currently, I am thinking primarily about arithmetic structures on fundamental groups of an algebraic variety, and the relationships between those structures and the geometry of the variety.

This website is largely a place to store my professional work; from time to time, I may also put some non-mathematical writing here.
